The Japan/World Bank Scholarship Program was established to function as a vehicle for knowledge sharing and capacity building in the developing world. The scholarship program provides opportunities for mid-career professionals from eligible developing countries to do a master program abroad.
The Japan/World Bank Scholarship Program is intended for master students pursuing a degree in studies related to economic development of World Bank member countries. Each year, the scholarship program awards scholarships to individuals from World Bank member countries to undertake graduate studies at renowned universities throughout member countries.
The World Bank and the Government of Japan require the scholarship recipients to return to their home countries on completion of their studies abroad. Reason for this requirement is the philosophy behind the scholarship program; acquired knowledge and skills should contribute to the development process in the recipient?s native region and community.
