Program description

Science, Business and Innovation is an interdisciplinary study program at VU University Amsterdam. The program combines natural sciences and business studies.

That is the aim of the new Science, Business & Innovation Master’s track at VU University Amsterdam.* Experts from natural sciences, business administration and social sciences define a high-quality programme focusing on innovation processes in sustainable energy, drug development and biomedical technology. This Master’s track has two themes: Energy Science and Life Science. You will focus on one theme or combine the two. Courses include Current Sustainable Energy Technologies, Business, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Life Science Industry and Management of Sustainable Innovation. In courses and projects, you will analyse, interpret and work with new developments, inventions, products and services in life and/or energy science. Concurrently, you will advance your knowledge in social and business sciences, strengthening your knowledge of leadership, entrepreneurship, decision-making and R&D management. You can also take electives in an area of your own choosing. Your studies will culminate in an interdisciplinary SBI project (a research internship leading to a Master’s thesis), studying innovation processes that combine state-of-the-art inventions in life or energy science with strategies for exploitation and implementation.
