Program description

As a philosophy student, you ask basic questions and you will study the responses of philosophers from past and present. Education is of high quality, with frequent and personal guidance.

Do we have a free will? How trustworthy is scientific knowledge? What is the best form of government? Is it possible to think without language? As a student of philosophy, you ask fundamental questions and analyze the answers given to them by famous philosophers, pas and present. By comparing their answers, you develop your own view and learn how to defend it. If you study in Nijmegen, you may expect intensive supervision by expert teachers. Teaching mostly takes place in small groups, which allows for much personal interaction. In the course of the bachelor programme, you follow courses presenting you the key philosophical disciplines at both introductory and intermediate levels. You acquire a thorough knowledge of the history of philosophy and of contemporary philosophical research. You also develop diverse skills, such as the interpretation of philosophical texts or the application of philosophical theories to actual situations and problems. The equivalent of half a year of study can be devoted to courses of your own choice. (Tought in Dutch)
