Program description

As a student, you will learn more about dutch literature. You will also analyse issues such as: How do children learn their native language and what is the difference with learning a second language?

The Dutch Language and Culture programme with specializations in literature, linguistics and language proficiency offers you the opportunity to make an extensive scientific study of every aspect of the Dutch language. In the first three years, you are introduced to all the sub-areas. By means of a specific composition of a number of minors (combinations of subjects) in the second and third years of the Bachelor's programme, you can already begin to work towards one or more of the specializations mentioned opposite. Minors may also include internships or subjects taken outside the Dutch Language and Culture programme. After the three-year Bachelor's degree programme, you will transfer to the one-year Master's degree programme in Dutch Language and Culture. You will then further specialize yourself in the area of your choice. Specializations: Middle Dutch Literature 17th and 18th Century Literature Modern Literature, Text and Context Juvenile Literature Flemish Literature Historical Language Modern Language Psycholinguistics Language Behaviour Studies Language Proficiency (Tought in Dutch)
