During my high school I have doubted for quite some time about which study to choose. I wanted to do something with economics, but I liked math as well. I visited lectures of different studies and in different cities. Until I discovered econometrics, which combines both math and economics.

In the first year of study a lot of math and statistics is involved. Math is nice to do, but at some point you start wondering why you’re doing all that. That becomes clear when you start solving actual economic problems. How to trade in stocks, how to set up an optimal transportation line or how to market a product optimally. I might end up in a bank or at the ministry of finance, or maybe abroad. Econometrics give me many jobs to choose from.

Rotterdam is a great city to study. The level of education is high, and there are many motivated fellow students. And if you would like to do something besides study, there are plenty of bars, clubs and fraternities. I was well able to combine my study with a student fraternity, and I would really recommend doing that.

So good luck with your choice. I like in Rotterdam, but take a look yourself. And maybe we will encounter each other in Rotterdam next year.
